Abridged Interview by Ahmed Sharai for the Oman Observer, February 2008

A: I have read about your technique on the Internet, but have not understood a great deal. Am I correct in understanding that you have learnt this technique from Cornelia Hesse-Honegger?
Y: Yes, indeed. I studied scientific drawing and painting under Cornelia Hesse-Honegger, who is a master in her field, and has world-wide recognition. I have developed the technique further in order to be able to paint large-format paintings. Using tempera, I begin by painting many layers of colour on specially prepared cotton canvas, then add points of colour, which become smaller and smaller with each additional layer, until these can only be seen as micro points. I have named this technique ‘micro-pointilism’. This is very time consuming, which means that I work on a picture for one to three months.
